Wanted: A personal assistant to keep me organized, run errands, clean house, cook dinner, buy my lunch, keep my calendar, take dictation for my blog, organize my huge piles of magazines pulling out articles I might like, and jot down reminders when I think "Oh, I need to..." (Actually, don’t jot down reminders, just do them.) Pay: The sheer satisfaction of knowing my life is slightly less stressful.
The real kicker here is that I am an organized person. I'm often complimented on my organizational skills and ability to juggle many tasks as once. But today I realized I had scheduled a focus group with Business Journal readers for a Tuesday morning. Duh - I teach my class at the College of Charleston on Tuesday mornings. I can't really miss this focus group so I'll probably cancel class (the students will be sooo disappointed).
Once I realized what I done, I also realized I am OVER BOOKED BIG TIME. The solution is to find a personal assistant willing to work for free or eliminate some commitments from my life. Actually I may need the assistant to help me eliminate some of those commitments. Any takers?

Let's be honest -- you have just described a wife. I'm probably risking the wrath of all the organized men out there when I say this, but women -- and especially married women -- are just more organized. Not sure why, but maybe we aren't supposed to question, just accept.
The reality is we all need a wife (even when we are one -- maybe more so when we are one; doubly so when we have kids): someone to keep things in order, plan meals more than two minutes before it's time to eat (or alternately, drive through Arby's on the way home) and keep the world moving when we get sick.
Oh -- and I got your focus group request but didn't catch that it was on a Tuesday morning either. Which probably means I'm so busy that in the market for serious help too!

"Why I Want a Wife" By Judy Brady was written in 1971, but still encompasses what many women continue to face - the need to have a wife of their own, i.e. a personal assistant.
This is a great story, which with your schedule will be nearly impossible for you to read; so in a nutshell women seem to continue to carry the load. We have our own lives, own schedules, work obligations, and then to add to the pile, household duties, husbands, and for those with kids the list goes on and on.
Remember, "I am Woman, Hear Me Roar!" Keep telling yourself this and you will make it through. Because you are a WOMAN.
